There is a list of whakataukī (proverbs) used within my research:
He mokopuna, he tīpuna – grandchild, grandparent/ancestor.
Goes over how everyone, at stages of their life, is the child learning from their
elder, and are the elders teaching the children that come thereafter.
Mā te huruhuru ka rere te manu – Adorn the bird with feathers so it may soar.
A similar proverb could be "If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day
—if you teach him to fish, you feed him for many days."
If you give information to or support someone, they can have the knowledge and
strength to do whatever it was they wanted to.
