Methodology Rewrite

I am using Pūrākau as a methodology and implementing the Iterative Design Process (IDP) within a virtual reality pipeline as the creative process driving the project. In this sense, my use of Pūrākau is the stories (myths and legends) and the worldview meeting to represent experiences and knowledge passed down through traditional oral storytelling. IDP is a system of receiving, evaluating, and refining an initial idea, and incrementally evolving it. I am establishing a connection between the two with the pūrākau of the Māori Creation Story. At first, there is Te Kore ("The Nothing") until the concept is the universe comes to be, Te Pō ("The Endless Night"); that is where you find conceptualization. Conceptualization is the creation of ideas and can be a form of initial visualization. I am doing this in the way of mood boards and sketches. Next is the world's step into the light, Te Whaiao ("The Dawnlight") and Te Ao Mārama ("The World of Light").

Because we are now in the world of light and can see, we can take the concepts and make a prototype. Prototyping puts a 2D idea into a new space and fleshes it out to see if it works. Much of my prototyping is asset-less and quickly built to ensure the usability of specific builds. I will test how it runs, "if it does not, then why?" and if any failures have produced better outcomes. Finally, now that the creation story has circulated and people have retold it, it is time to get feedback. For my research, playtesting will only be self-tested. This ensures that the project functions well and prevents any potential risks such as VR Sickness. It is similar to Motion Sickness but can emerge from virtual lag and latency.
